An Engagement { Sacha + Tony }
There was no way we could have expected better weather for a winter engagement shoot, especially with the wacky season we've had so far. No wind, slight overcast and a gentle sparkle of snowflakes fell through the entire afternoon. Sacha + Tony are absolute perfection too, they love spending their free time skating and celebrate occasions with bubbly. And not to mention, they share the same good food loving vibes that I have so you can bet i'm excited to photograph their wedding this September. Cheers to good food and friendship! Hear Hear!

A Wedding { Hudson + Kate }
I've known Hudson and Kate through architecture school for quite some years now, so naturally you can imagine, we were drawing up floor plans of the venue and sketching their wedding cake the first night we talk about their ideas over bubble tea. They talked about the textures and colours of the Thompson Landry Gallery space and why it was made for a great setting for their ceremony and reception. It was also perfect to have May photographing with me, as Hudson was her classmate and a lot of fellow schoolmates were also at the party.
The day started at the Windsor Arms Hotel. While the girls were getting their make up and hair done, the guys were busy battling on Super Smash Bros (a video game). After all, they only needed 15 minutes to get ready and they've played this game together every moment they could since highschool. After, we all met up for the reveal in the hotel lobby and then we zipped off to the distillery.
Winter wedding are so charming to photograph; the sparkling lights of the distillery and cozy hugs add to the intimacy of the evening. Even though you wouldn't notice in the photos; the bridal party, particularly Kate and the ladies were such troopers braving the cold and intense winds. It was the kind of wind that made you tear, and even I had a hard time keeping it together and I had a jacket!
Its a great change to have a reception without a formal dinner service; it feels a little more casual and easier to walk around, mingling and joining different conversations especially with a tight and intimate crowd. You could tell Hudson and Kate were able to share genuine moments with their family and friends. Oh and have I mentioned about their “cheesy” wedding cake? yes, their cake was no cake at all; but instead, beautifully aged cheese wheels, how awesome is that? They both love their cheese and found a local cheese shop to make it for them. The rest of the night featured celebration cigars, late night Jamaican beef patties and hats on the dance floor!
Congratulations Hudson + Kate!

new season, new blog. happy face.
Woah whats this?! Ch-ch-check it out yo, i've got my own little photography blog now. I have some big plans brewing for my design + photography work this coming year; but currently i'm slaving away and finishing my thesis for my masters in architecture. I'm so close I tell ya! Until then, this is the new home for my current photostream of happy people in love. Since this is a new blog (and long overdue by the way), expect me to post some weddings from last year as well as some thematic collections. I'll try to keep my words short since my writing isn't the most elegant, but photos will be a plenty. Hope you like them! Come back often, drop me a note, and thanks for visiting!
